The word adversity is not used often in connection with Eden Prairie High's football program. Most high schools look at the Eagles and see an embarrassment of riches - huge numbers of swift, strong and large players.
Eden Prairie plays in the Lake Conference, one of the two toughest in the state. No matter. The Eagles have won 39 consecutive conference games.
Eden Prairie won back-to-back state championships in 1996 and 1997. It was defeated in the Class 5A semifinals in 1998 and 1999. There was conversation during those seasons that Eden Prairie had a football machine to remember coming with its senior class in 2000.
Adversity was not an issue ...
