The holiday giving season approaches, so here's a list of some of the best new wine books I've come across this year:
_"Bacchus & Me" by Jay McInerney (Lyons, $24.95): Novelist McInerney, best known as the author of "Bright Lights, Big City," turns his spotlight on wine this time and makes us glad he did. His new book, a compilation of his wine columns for "House & Garden" magazine, uses a take-no-prisoners approach in musing over the pleasures of the grape.
Mooning over the decadent pleasures of the sweet dessert wine Sauternes, he writes: "Hemingway is supposed to have said that any man who eats dessert is not drinking enough." His point: A really ...
