MARRIOTT OFFICIALLY WELCOMES RESIDENCE INN INTO LODGING FAMILY

WASHINGTON, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- J.W. (Bill) Marriott Jr. traveled today to Charlotte, N.C., to unveil the first "Residence Inn by Marriott" sign in the country, located at the newly opened Residence Inn by Marriott Charlotte-North.

The event was also an occasion for Marriott to formally welcome the Residence Inn chain into the Marriott Corp. line of lodging products.

Marriott Corp. purchased the Residence Inn chain of moderately priced, all-suite hotels in July 1987.
