Nov. 28--The narrow and much-traveled bridge over Salt Creek is soon to be replaced.
Work will start Monday on replacement of the bridge on Santa Fe Drive/Colorado 227, which is one of six parts of a $9 million project designed to improve Santa Fe Drive (U.S. 50C) in the Salt Creek area.
The Colorado Department of Transportation awarded the construction contract to Tarco Inc. of Arvada.
Funding for the project comes primarily from a $50 million fund earmarked by the Legislature's Capital Development Committee for highway projects in rural Colorado; $8.5 million has been identified specifically for the Salt Creek bridge.
