Success of the US school enrollment-based health insurance (SEBHI) movement coincided with earlier child health insurance initiatives nationwide to influence approval of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). In addition to other initiatives that predated SCHIP, SEBHI programs provided affordable health insurance to Medicaid-ineligible, school-aged children from families lacking health insurance.
