CORRECTION PUBLISHED JULY 24, 1999 FOLLOWS: A story on Page 4A on July 19 (July 20 cq) should have said that 3 million men in the United States got cancer between 1991 and 1995, as did 2.9 million women. It also should have said that for every 100,000 men, 500 per year will get cancer. For every 100,000 women, 347 women per year will get cancer.

Colorado's cancer rate was 5 percent lower than that in the rest of the nation for the first half of the 1990s, a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment report said Monday.
