Don Kinney celebrated his 30th anniversary in Denver broadcasting Wednesday without really celebrating.
For Kinney, it was a typical Wednesday, which means he spent most of the day preparing for Friday night's long-running State of Colorado broadcast, the only local TV show of its type in the country.
Long-running? An overused phrase in broadcasting. If a network comedy series has a five-year anniversary, the publicist calls it long-running.
State of Colorado premiered Jan. 5, 1979. Using broadcasting terminology, let's call it a long, long-running public-affairs series.
