As many as 75,000 Colorado children who could be eligible for state-sponsored health insurance simply do without. Without insurance, they often do without health care, too.
To help with the problem, Mile High United Way is joining the effort to get low-income children enrolled in Child Health Plan Plus, a statewide program administered by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.
As the United Way prepares to kick off its annual campaign in September, it has announced it is committed to raising $500,000 to help the program, said United Way spokeswoman Danielle Corriveau.
