The federal government is threatening to yank millions of dollars from one of Colorado's most prominent mental hospitals for children.
The Cleo Wallace Centers operated its Westminster psychiatric institution without a medical director for 16 months, leaving no one to check on problems with patient care, government records show.
In the second government action against Cleo Wallace in recent weeks, federal officials warned last month they will cut off its Medicare / Medicaid funding on Nov. 17.
Medicaid provides about 40 percent of the centers' annual revenue of $23 million, the institution said.
