Religious belief closely linked to scientific illiteracy
In his Sept. 26 commentary ``Will Genesis and evolution merge?'' Rabbi Hillel Goldberg made quite a few incorrect statements. He claimed that evolutionary biology does not have ``logic and evidence'' on its side. Unless the two words have changed in meaning lately, the statement is patently false. Evolution makes logical claims about past events based on evidence - fossils, dating of geological strata, etc.
Where else does Goldberg think science should look - perhaps in the ``truths'' of religion he mentions later on in the piece? What ``truths'' do religions possess that are ``totally ...
