A linked multilayer fabric designed for use as a composite reinforcement has been proposed by two French organizations.
In US Patent 5 899 241, the Societe Nationale D'Etude et de Construction de Moteurs D'Aviation (Snecma) of Paris and the Societe Coton Textiles pour Materiaux Innovants (CTMI) of La Sone disclose a construction based on the use of 28 weft yarns. These weft yarns are arranged as eight columns containing alternately four superimposed yarns and three superimposed yarns in a staggered arrangement on seven levels.
