Controversy over the new Romanization system for the Korean alphabet, Hangul, continues five months after its proclamation on July 7 and its use on street signs and official government documents.
During the discussion session about the new Romanization system by the opposition Grand National Party, Wednesday, the pros and cons were repeated, with the government still advocating its usage. Meanwhile, concerned linguists, trade experts and professors urged a total repeal of Romanization or halt of its use until an alternative system is developed.
