In a business that hustles trends into galleries with the speed of a hyped-up bakery, it pays to occasionally consider the artist who has built a career on one simple concept: Work, work, work.
Among followers of that precept is Denver painter Jerry De La Cruz, whose artwork ranges from figurative to abstract, surreal to political, with occasional inclusion of the symbolism found in Chicano art.
In paint, pencil and photography, Denver native De La Cruz is the proverbial plugger - maintaining a teaching and exhibiting schedule even during a long stretch of managing and owning a radio station in Pueblo.
