Wednesday's sunrise was gorgeous, for anyone partial to white on white. But the camouflage was all wrong for a spring turkey hunter at 8,000 feet in the central foothills.
Snow white, not green or even brown, should have been the uniform of the day. A glowing hearth and a cup of hot chocolate would have made more sense.
So I'm grousing about the sloppy timing of Colorado's spring turkey hunting season again. Dawn faded in on Wednesday to reveal 15 inches of wet snow burdening the ponderosa pines and junipers in fair turkey country north of the Rampart Range. In the next hour 5 more ...
