The Rev. Marcian T. O'Meara, who turned Denver's archdiocesan deacon program into a national model, died Monday after a long battle with cancer.
Father O'Meara, 70, died at the rectory of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Catholic parish he led for many years.
The popular priest was remembered Wednesday at a dinner that drew crowds from his parish family and the archdiocese he served since 1980.
At 3 p.m. today, Archbishop Charles J. Chaput will celebrate a Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1530 Logan St.
