* A recap of highlights from selected Bolder Boulder races through the years:
1979 - The first race is won by Ric Rojas, who defeats race co-founder and Olympic champion Frank Shorter. About 2,700 runners compete in the race, which finishes in North Boulder Park.
1980 - The growth of the race (4,000 participate) forces organizers to move the finish line to the Boulder High School track.
1981 - Shorter wins the men's elite race. About 9,000 run, which necessitates moving the finish line to Folsom Field, where it has remained.
1984 - American Herb Lindsay wins the men's elite race. No American has won since in the men's elite division. ...
