A bill cracking down on the use of ``date rape'' drugs was signed into law Tuesday by Gov. Bill Owens in a flurry of bill signings throughout the day.
It was one of more than 30 measures Owens signed into law during the day and over the weekend as he rushed to beat a Friday deadline for taking action.
The date rape bill, HB 1095, was the second of two bills aimed at imposing stiffer penalties on those who use the drugs.
Odorless and tasteless, the drugs can leave a victim unable to prevent an attack and frequently unable even to remember what happened.
