BROOMFIELD -- Red, white and blue bunting hung from the walls of the airplane hangar. ``Welcome Troops,'' said a sign above the stage. A redheaded songstress accompanied by a full band crooned as dancers twirled around the room.
Organizers of the WWII Big Band Swing Party that kicked off Air Show Colorado '99 wanted to re-create the look and feel of the war years, from the vintage plane and automobile outside to the floral printed dresses and platform shoes worn by the female guests inside.
