Operation Desert Fox lasted barely 70 hours but unleashed twice the air power that pounded Iraq during the entire 45 days of the Persian Gulf War.
Navy ships and B-52 bombers lobbed 425 cruise missiles, compared to 291 eight years ago. Warplanes flew 650 missions, both bombing runs and combat support, and no British or American airmen were lost.
Nearly 100 targets were struck, including 30 sites believed to be used for the production or storage of weapons of mass destruction, 35 airfields or air defense installations, 20 command and control centers, nine bases used by the Republican Guard and the Basra oil refinery.
