PROVIDENCE _ In a perfect world, both Tim Welsh and Jerry DeGregorio would come into Saturday night's PC-URI game for state bragging rights with their guns loaded.
But this is far from a perfect college basketball season.
Providence has struggled to a 3-3 start in large part due to injuries to starting point guard John Linehan (hamstring) and center Karim Shabazz (knee bruise). Rhode Island was hoping for great things from swingman Brian Woodward but he hurt his knee in the season's second game. The Rams (1-4) haven't won a game since.
