I have never understood the fascination some people have for dolls although, obviously, I do admire the workmanship that goes into their construction.
Automata - dolls which move their limbs by clockwork mechanisms are a different thing altogether and I wish I owned one but with prices in the upper thousands these days, that is unlikely.
