The Denver Merchandise Mart today will have the grand opening of a $7 million plaza that links three existing buildings.

The 72,000-square-foot addition, called The Plaza and the Forum Meeting Rooms, includes conference rooms and a common area. The plaza links the main merchandise mart, the exposition hall and the pavilion building.

The project began in March 1997 and was finished in January, when it opened to accommodate a large Western-apparel exhibition.
