GREELEY -- Left tackle Gary Zimmerman agreed Tuesday to come back to the Denver Broncos for the 1998 season, according to an NFL source close to the situation.
Zimmerman, 36, told coach Mike Shanahan in June that he planned to retire. However, the coaxing of Broncos quarterback John Elway - who visited Zimmerman at a motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D. - and other players and coaches appear to have prompted his return.
Zimmerman, though, might not report until sometime next week. Until then, Harry Swayne is the starting left tackle for Saturday's preseason opener at St. Louis (6 p.m., ...
