Texas Gov. George W. Bush on Thursday urged the election of a Lone Star native as Colorado governor.
Bush was the speaker at a fund-raising dinner for State Treasurer Bill Owens, the Republican gubernatorial candidate.
Owens faces Lt. Gov. Gail Schoettler, a Democrat and California native, in the Nov. 3 election.
The Texas governor - son of former President George H. W. Bush - has gained a reputation as a moderate who has reached out to Hispanic voters.
He said Owens, struggling to shed a far-right image, is cast from the same mold.
