WASHINGTON -- The embers of congressional and Justice Department probes of 1996 presidential campaign financing are still flaring up almost two years after the campaigns ended.

But although Republicans are trying to throw logs on the fire, finding fresh fuel isn't easy.

Attorney General Janet Reno acknowledged Thursday she has launched yet another - her ninth - internal review of whether she should ask an independent prosecutor to look into President Clinton's involvement in Democratic campaign finance irregularities.
