Greater consumption of low-fat milk, cheese and yogurt seems to reduce the risk of developing colon cancer, according to a study published Wednesday.
``I certainly think it's reasonable from these results to say that increasing consumption of dairy foods, which has long been recommended to prevent osteoporosis, should also be considered as a preventative measure for those at risk of colon cancer,'' said Dr. Peter Holt, a professor of medicine at Columbia University and lead author of the study, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association.
