American Furniture Warehouse will double its presence in Colorado with the acquisition of eight Rhodes stores.
``We concluded it was best to exit the market,'' said Bill De-Rusha, chairman and chief executive officer of Heilig-Meyers, parent company of Rhodes.
DeRusha would not discuss the terms of the deal that closed Thursday.
American Furniture Warehouse owner Jake Jabs, who has dominated the local furniture market in recent years, could not be reached for comment.
