TAGGART star James Macpherson took life for granted - until he stared death in the face just a few weeks ago.
Like his character, DCI Mike Jardine, he was a typical no-nonsense Scottish male, reluctant to talk about the big things in life - such as getting old and dying.
After suffering a collapsed lung during a flight from Glasgow to London, James had emergency surgery which saved his life.
When he awoke, his outlook had changed.
