NAIROBI, Kenya -- Burundi's Tutsi-dominated army is hunting a group of at least 1,000 Hutu rebels who killed 150 people in an attack on a village and military camp near Bujumbura airport Thursday, a senior commander said.
Col. Jean-Bosco Daradangwe said the army had stepped up operations against the rebels who attacked at 4 a.m. and engaged the army in a fierce hourlong battle.
``We are hunting them down. We are stepping up operations with more troops and I have no doubt we will catch up with them,'' Daradangwe said. He said the army had initially killed 30 rebels for the loss of one soldier.
