The spirit of Calamity Jane lives, at least through her great-great-grandniece.
``My whole philosophy is that Calamity Jane was a modern woman born before her time,'' said Norma Cathey, 48, of Laramie. ``The world is still not ready for a woman who would stand her ground.''
Cathey, the great-great-granddaughter of Lena Cannary Borner, Calamity Jane's sister, will play her famous ancestor in the Great American Wild West Show this weekend at the National Western Stock Show.
