Jon Sayles was modest about being honored as a Mile High Scholar Wednesday.
``It's a good thing for me,'' said the ninth-grader at East High School. The only achievement he admitted to was being a defensive lineman on the school's football team and having decent grades.
But Marsha Chavez, assistant principal at East, was much more effusive in praise of her 15-year-old student.
``Jon is very well-known in the school,'' she said.
``He sings in the choir, he had a big part with the kids who ran for office this year, and he's been in performing arts kinds of things. He's a ...
