DETROIT -- It seems appropriate that, thanks to the often spectacular goaltending of Olaf Kolzig, the Washington Capitals aren't just a blip on the NHL map anymore.
Kolzig, whose Capitals open the Stanley Cup Finals tonight against the heavily favored Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena, has been all over the map throughout his life.
Kolzig, who is of German descent, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, where his parents worked in the hotel industry. He was a world traveler by age 5, having lived in Africa, Europe and, finally, Canada.
Now 28, Kolzig never stayed in one place ...
