Mary Pagano's passion was politics and she passed that on to her students.
``She never gave up on any of her students. I think she really was a master teacher,'' said one of her best-known proteges, Denver Mayor Wellington Webb.
Miss Pagano worked for Denver Public Schools from 1946 until she retired in 1973. She taught social studies at Manual High School.
Miss Pagano died Jan. 18. She was 84.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Cure D'Ars Church, 3201 Dahlia St.
In lieu of contributions, her friends ask that donations be made to a favorite charity.
