Two state fish records tumbled last week, a sure sign spring has found firm footing in low and middle elevation climes - and that more records will fall in coming weeks.
Neither fish belongs to a species native to Colorado. But one, the lake trout or mackinaw, has a long history here. The other, grass carp, is a recent addition to community lakes along the Front Range, where it was introduced to control aquatic vegetation and grows enormously on a diet of, sometimes, grass clippings.
