PARIS -- From old-fashioned balls on the banks of the Seine to inflected techno mixes in fashionable clubs, the accordion once again is popping up all over the French music scene.
Contemporary composer Jean Francaix has written a concerto for accordion and orchestra. Musicians, often from eastern Europe, have flooded the Paris subway.
As if waking from a 20-year sleep, accordion fans across France have launched best-selling record labels, concert series and soirees.
