PARIS -- Chaos loomed over the World Cup soccer championships Wednesday, with Air France pilots striking for a third day and other pay disputes threatening to paralyze French trains and subways.
Baggage handlers stayed off the job, joining the airline's 3,200 pilots on the sidelines and forcing passengers at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris to carry their own luggage for a second straight day.
French leaders were mortified by the labor unrest, which could derail the world's biggest sporting event. The government desperately wants to be a successful World Cup host and is trying to shake France's reputation ...
