WASHINGTON -- When Rep. Louise Slaughter opened a letter from a constituent recently, she saw a puzzlement felt by many in Rochester, N.Y., and other smaller cities across the country.
``How can it possibly cost $702 to fly from Rochester to Cincinnati when I can fly to the West Coast for under $500, to Florida for under $400 and my brother-in-law can fly here from the Philippines for around $800?'' asked Andrea Vittum, president of the White Haven cemetery in Pittsford, N.Y.
The government says Rochester's fares are the fourth highest in the nation, after Richmond, Va., Greensboro, N.C., and Charlotte, ...
