The Thomae Company in Biberach (today Bohringer Ingelheim) approached DRIAM with the request to evaluate the possibility to build a coating system with maximum batch capacity to produce pellets of tartaric acid.

The existing system presently used by the customer allowed a production of 750 kg of pellets over a period of one week. The goal of the proposed new system was to produce pellets at the rate of 2,000 kg in three days, which would roughly increase the production, six fold.
