Assemblers of farm machinery are investing to improve the technology of its products. Over the 60's the harvesting machinery was able to crop 200 bags per day, in 80's they had capacity for 650 bags, in 90's the machines produced 1,500 and currently they are able to crop 2,500 - 3,600 bags per day. It allowed the farmers to reduce its fleet, fixed costs and increase productivity. According to the industry association Anfavea (Associacao Nacional dos Fabricantes de Veiculos Automotores)betwee January and October 2000 the farm machinery sector commercialized 26,000 units, while in equal period of 1999 it sold 21, 600.
