Takeda Pharmaceuticals America, Inc. today announced that their oral insulin sensitizer, ACTOS(R) (pioglitazone HCl), has passed the 3.5 million-prescription mark. Since ACTOS first became available in the United States in August of 1999, more than 1 million of the estimated 14 million Americans with type 2 diabetes have begun taking the drug and physicians have issued more than 3,512,000 prescriptions in the United States alone.
