CASTLE ROCK -- The Douglas County School board will decide Tuesday whether to pull the book Grendel from its reading lists and create a rating system for books.
Heidi Kauffman, 17, and her parents, David and Willow Kauffman, are asking the school board to overturn superintendent Rick O'Connell's decision to keep the 1971 novel Grendel by John Gardner on the list of selected reading for high school students.
The board meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Douglas County administration building in Castle Rock.
