Giving asthmatic children allergy shots appears to carry ``no discernible benefit'' for youngsters who regularly take drugs to control their symptoms, researchers said Thursday.
Their report in The New England Journal of Medicine is the latest in a long-running battle over the value of immunotherapy in treatment of asthma, fought out largely in the pages of the same journal.
In the latest study, doctors at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore conducted a 10-year study of 121 children ages 5 to 14 who had allergies and moderate to severe asthma year-round and required daily medication.
