The cost of parking downtown rose as much 50 percent this week after construction of the Denver Pavilions eliminated the two largest and most prominent lots.
And events are expected to drive rates even higher: The Oklahoma City bombing trial, the Colorado Rockies getting into full swing, the G-7 Summit of Industrialized Nations and a record number of conventions.
S&K Parking at West 14th Avenue and Fox Street raised its rates this week to $3 from $2 - a 50 percent increase - and a nearby Allright parking lot raised its rates to $3 from $2.25.
