WASHINGTON -- Stung by charges they aren't accomplishing enough, House Republican leaders unveiled an agenda Thursday that focuses on cutting taxes, reducing federal regulation, restricting abortion, and toughening juvenile prosecution.
Most of the proposals were introduced in the last Congress, but either failed to clear both houses or were vetoed by President Clinton. The agenda was presented by Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., Republican leader Dick Armey of Texas, and other GOP leaders at a press conference two months into the 105th Congress in the wake of complaints from rank-and-file Republicans, ...
