The tour brochure touted outdoorsy stuff by day, gracious living at night. When I read the description of a walking trip in Southwest Ireland, I could see myself strolling grassy paths lined with fuchsia blossoms . . . accepting an invitation to tea in a thatched-roof cottage. I could almost hear a rough guy quoting Irish poetry in the ruins of an Irish castle. Come twilight, I'd live like the rich folks do, sipping fine wine and dining on delicacies.
I couldn't wait to sign on for an ``active'' vacation.
One day of the six actually lived up to my fantasies. Three others on soggy land and one on rough sea - omigawd! ...
