America is hungry for a solution to its obesity problem, but a year after the FDA approval of the weight-loss drug Redux, the pangs remain and controversy rages.
Every week, U.S. physicians write 80,000 to 85,000 prescriptions for Redux, but critics say it's only a temporary fix and that the majority of users will regain any weight lost.
``My pharmacist looks at me very strange every time I go to renew this,'' says a 55-year-old Denver woman. ``And he said, `Did they give you warnings about the side effects?' ''
