Question: We have space above the cabinets in our kitchen where I'd like to put some living house plants. The kitchen has a south-facing window and a skylight. What will grow up there?
Answer: One of the most limiting factors of growing house plants above kitchen cabinets is the quality and duration of light. In addition, heat rising from the kitchen will dry both soil and foliage more rapidly. With light from the south and a skylight, you will have more success if you select plants that prefer moderate light and those that are tolerant of lower humidity.
