WASHINGTON -- The Democratic National Committee on Friday returned $1.5 million more in questionable campaign donations to 77 contributors, bringing to $3 million the amount of money the party has returned.
Colorado Gov. Roy Romer, general chairman of the committee, conceded that the party had accepted checks that weren't legal under federal election laws, or were otherwise inappropriate.
