NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 2000
L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the company a grant for the Phase III development of the ARGUS Explosive Detection System (EDS). ARGUS is a more compact, lower-cost EDS system based on L-3's existing FAA-certified eXaminer 3DX(TM) 6000 and is suitable for smaller air carrier stations.
This grant provides L-3 Communications with $6 million in additional development funding. Completion of Phase III is scheduled for November, 2001.
