NEW YORK -- Coloring and styling products continue to drive sales in the ethnic hair care category.
While the growing popularity of natural hairstyles has negatively impacted sales of such ethnic hair care segments as relaxers, dollar sales in the hair coloring and styling segments have risen a healthy 13.2% and 20%, respectively, across the three mass classes of trade for the year ended September 17, 2000, according to Information Resources Inc. (IRI).
"We forecast continued strength in ethnic hair color," comments Tern Gardner, president of L'Oreal USA's Soft Sheen/Carson division.
